The Sp’oq’es, or eagle logo has been representing Stó:lō Shxweli since its inception in 1994. It was a realistic depiction of a Bald Eagle drawn by Pípte (Peter Lindley) – original logo access unknown-unavailable at this point.

The new logo concept incorporated the following criteria:

 Sp’oq’es -eagle

 Shxweli - spirit

 Coast Salish Design

Halq’eméylem -language

Siyolexwa/siyewálelh-Elders/the ones who came before us (ancestors)

The final result is the logo for today, where  two eagles (isále sp’oq’es) representing the Spirit (Shxweli)and the ancestors (siyewálelh) are enveloping the human version of the ancestors (siyewálelh) representing the Elders (Siyolexwa) passing down the language (Halq’eméylemqel) to the people (ye mestíyexw).
