Coho, which we call kwōxweth (for the small ones) or sth'ímiya, were one of the main species of fish that we caught. Today coho generally can't be fished, because, although we protected our resources for thousands of years by such practices as not catching spawning fish, over-use of the resource since the coming of Europeans has driven the species close to extinction.
