Saying 'He does not...' Where a Receiver is Present
The same pattern for He does not VERB that you know (i.e. Éwe lis VERB) is used regardless of whether there is a receiver to the verb or not. Note how this can combine with the -es ending used on the verb whenever a third person (he/she/it or a noun) acts on a receiver:
(1) Éwe lis tá:metes te swíyeqe the slhá:lí.
The man did not call the woman.
This is not really a new pattern. It's just a matter of putting together the pattern éwe is... together with the -es ending used on verb where a third person doer acts on a receiver.
