You Folks (as Receiver of the Action)

If you folks is the receiver (object) of the action, you put an ending -óle onto the verb. Again, there is no change from t to th before the -óle ending.

(3) óxwest give it to

óxwestóle give it to you [ t does not change to th before – óle]

(4) kw'átset look at

kw'átsethóle look at you [ t does not change to th before -óle]

You may wonder how -óle is different from -chap. The difference is that -óle is used when you folks is the receiver of the action (someone is doing something to you folks), where-as -chap is used when you folks is doer (subject).

Us

To say us in Halq'eméylem you use an ending -óxw. Unlike the other receiver endings you have studied (-óx and -óme) with this -óxw ending is not any change from t to th if the verb ends in a t. Some examples are shown in (1) and (2).

(1) óxwest give it to

óxwestóxw give it to us [ t does not change to th before -óxw]

(2) kw'átset look at

kw'átsetóxw look at us [ t does not change to th before -óxw]
