Saying 'I am Not' in Halq'eméylem
Because there is no word for to be (are, am, etc.) in Halq'eméylem, there is no real difference between I am not... and I do not.... In both cases you will simply use the exact same pattern you already know, i.e. the one shown in (1) below. Examples are shown in (2).
(1) Éwe lil ...
I am not ...
(2) (a) Éwe líl xíxets'em.
I am not stinky.
(b) Éwe líl híkw.
I am not big.
Similarly for You are not..., you simply use the same pattern that you know for You do not... (i.e. Éwechexw lixw... ), and so on for the other doer-endings that you know.
