One of our teachings is that you do not throw leftovers outside at night (though you can throw them out during the day for the animals to eat). One should also not cook fish at night, as this is said to attract bad spirits who will come and hurt someone in the community.
Food must also not be left sitting uncovered between meals, inside or outside the house, both for sanitary reasons and again because it can attract bad spirits. One should also not eat outside at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, nor should one be eating bread as the sun goes down, for related spiritual reasons.
